Brian’s Run To Seaton Tramway.
Eleven riders, two with pillion passengers set off from Princes Road Car Park, Wells at 9.30 am for Brian Laitt’s run to Seaton Tramway. The weather was sunny and dry, despite the previous week’s thunderstorms and heavy showers.
Keeping to “B” and unclassified roads as far as possible, a leisurely journey was made to Barrington Court, near Illminster for morning tea and coffee, where we met Dave Thomas who then joined us for the ride. The route, again mainly on quiet roads, then went via Ilton, Horton and after negotiating a short stretch of the A30 near Chard, went through an eight mile stretch of rolling countryside to Kilmington on the A35 near Axminster, where two riders refuelled.
From Kilmington we followed the unclassified road to Whitford and thence to Colyton Station, the northern terminus of the Tramway. At this point we met up with Brian and Hilary Howell who had made their own way to Colyton. Lunch was taken at the tramway’s café at Colyton after which twelve members enjoyed the return tram ride to Seaton.
